Pixel Building – Melbourne, Australia
Aconex was selected by Grocon to provide its web-based collaboration system to the Pixel Building development in Melbourne, which will be Australia’s first carbon neutral office space.
Located on the former Carlton Brewery site, the four storey building will include an insulated rooftop garden with solar panels and wind turbines, as well as a grey water system. Due for completion in 2010, the development is targetting a 6-star Greenstar rating and has been designed to be capable of achieving the highest LEED and BREEAM ratings scores to date.
Since 2001, Grocon has used Aconex on more than 60 projects including high profile developments such as Eureka Tower, Media House and the Rectangular Stadium.
“Pixel will be Australia’s first carbon neutral building and, to the best of our knowledge, its carbon neutral construction is a world leader in urban commercial developments.
Aconex has been selected for this project as part of our overall carbon neutral delivery strategy. Our use of the platform will enable us to communicate the delivery of this project in a time-efficient manner, while reducing our printing and paper use. The system’s capacity to enable a collaborative team approach to working will enable the project team to enjoy extensive online work without the need for travel and meetings. This will further reduce the carbon footprint of the project compared to traditional project delivery.” - David Waldren, Grocon’s General Manager for the Carlton Brewery development.
