Rail Electrification Project – Auckland, New Zealand
Aconex is providing its online collaboration solution to support the upgrade of Auckland's metro rail infrastructure. The NZ$500 million (US$283m) project to electrify the rail network is a major step towards building a modern, sustainable passenger transport system for Auckland. It will mean quieter, more reliable and more environmentally friendly train services. Due to be completed in 2013, the project will involve the construction of a new signalling system, a new overhead line and electric power supply system and enabling works as well as the purchase of new electric rolling stock.
“As a major rail infrastructure development, this project will involve a large number of local government and private sector participants that will need to receive the right information at the right time. Aconex will provide the entire project team with a central system for managing documentation and correspondence so that, at any time, participants and stakeholders can view, distribute, and track their information in real time. By providing a common platform for information management across all the Auckland Electrification Project’s sub-developments, ONTRACK will be able to ensure a complete, documented picture of the wider project is available for our future operational and maintenance purposes.” – Murray Hood, Project Director at ONTRACK, part of KiwiRail Group (New Zealand Railways Corporation).
