ADPi selects Aconex for three airport developments in Libya
Aeroports de Paris International (ADPI), one of world’s leading airport architecture and engineering firms, has selected Aconex to service three airport developments in Libya.
Aconex will support the design and construction of the Tripoli, Benghazi and Sebha airports by providing its web-based platform for managing project information such as drawings, documents and correspondence.
The new $US2.1 billion Tripoli International Airport will include the construction of two 162,000 square meter terminals and a car park able to accommodate 4,400 vehicles. The airport will have capacity for six million passengers each year when the first phase is completed, with plans for an expansion to accommodate 20 million passengers annually. The terminals will feature 160 check-in counters, 12 baggage carousels and 96 boarding bridges. It is expected to service 100 airplanes simultaneously.
The US$870 million Benghazi Airport involves the development of a new 80,000 square meter passenger terminal, and the expansion at Sebha will involve the creation of a new 55,000 square meter terminal.
Daniel Penna, Responsible for the implementation of Aconex at ADPi said, “Our projects typically involve hundreds of team members based across several countries, so we required a central platform for storing and distributing our design and construction-related information. Aconex is a great system that rapidly becomes the information backbone of any project. It gives immediate access to the latest versions of our documents from anywhere in the world, and provides us with a full document history and ultra-transparent companywide correspondence. Aconex provides an intuitive interface that users quickly comprehend.
“Moreover, the key to successful implementation of an information management system is training, reactivity and simplicity. These are three areas in which Aconex excel and that are crucial to their business model. The access to local training from the many Aconex offices throughout the world has been instrumental in fast roll-out times and system buy-in; and the availability of Aconex staff to support our projects has been outstanding.”
