Cape Town hotel development goes online with Aconex
Aconex has been selected by project management firm Quanval to service to the company’s US$11.5 million, Blaauwberg Beach Hotel development in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Aconex system will be used to manage all the documents and correspondence generated by organizations involved in the project. Through using Aconex, Quanval and its project partners will be able to view, track and share their files in real-time – reducing the risks associated with using paper documents and streamlining communication between dispersed parties.
Johan van Zyl, Project Manager at Quanval, said: “We needed a system that was easily accessible, easy to use, comprehensive and secure. Aconex will deliver this and ensure that project documentation is available to the various team members to view, comment on and approve, whether they are within South Africa or abroad.”
Blaauwberg Beach Hotel will comprise 195 rooms and be located on the Blouberg waterfront. The 13-storey, five-star property will also include conference and banqueting facilities and a health spa. The hotel will overlook Blouberg Beach and Table Mountain.
Leigh Jasper, Aconex Chief Executive Officer, said: “Aconex will help Quanval to deliver this project by allowing fast access to data, by reducing costs such as printing and postage, and by controlling risks such as information loss and disputes.”
Aconex is also providing its service to the King Shaka International Airport development near Durban and the Triple Point project in East London.
Jasper added: “Due to hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and bidding for other international events, the outlook for South Africa’s construction market is extremely positive and we see significant opportunities to provide our service to commercial and infrastructure developments.”
