Aconex selected for Dubai Airport Concourse 3 project
Aconex has been selected by Al Jaber Engineering and Contracting (ALEC) to service the Concourse 3 project at Dubai International Airport. The Aconex system will be used to link the organizations involved in the development by allowing them to manage their project information using a central, web-based platform.
The new Concourse 3 will be over 640 meters long and include 20 aircraft gates, 18 of which will be able to accommodate the Airbus A380. With a built up of 528,000 square meters, it comprises Duty Free Shopping, lounges, and hotels. When complete, it will increase the passenger handling capacity of the airport to 68 million passengers annually.
Head Contractor ALEC is responsible for the overall construction coordination, finishes, MEP, SAS and signage works for the concourse, and will be using Aconex throughout each stage. Through using the system, ALEC and its project partners will be able to access, distribute and track their documents and correspondence at any time and from any location.
Sean Hart, ALEC Contracts Manager, said: “Managing the large volume of information on projects of this scale can be extremely challenging. Using Aconex will ensure that all project information is held in one place and we can instantly retrieve what we’re looking for.”
He added, “The new concourse is a significant addition to Dubai Airport and we knew we required a best-in-class system that could support our project through every stage of development.”
Concourse 3 is part of a much wider multibillion dollar program to upgrade and extend Dubai International Airport. By 2025, it is expected to be one of the world’s largest airports.
