ASTERION uses Aconex for New Lisbon Airport Tender
Aconex has been selected to provide its online collaboration solution to ASTERION for the tender phase of the €3 billion (US$4b) New Lisbon Airport in Portugal. When complete in 2017, the development will occupy a 2,400 hectare site and feature two 4,000 meter parallel runways. The airport will be able to accommodate 22 million passengers each year and carry 133,000 tonnes of cargo.
Aconex was selected for the project by ASTERION, a joint venture consortium which features some of Portugal’s largest companies including BRISA, Mota-Engil, Somague, MSF, LENA, CGD, BES, and Millennium BCP.
A Senior Advisor at ASTERION said: “During the tender phase, we will have a large volume of information which will need to be efficiently managed and shared. We have project teams across Portugal, Europe, the Americas and Asia. Without a collaboration platform like Aconex, communicating across our global team would be extremely difficult. Having an independent central system for our information was of particular benefit to us, as we have a shared repository for our documents. As information is securely managed online, it reduces our exposure to risks which stem from using out-of-date documents and miscommunication, which can result in costly delays. One of the reasons why we chose Aconex was their ability to provide local training and support to our global team, which ensures we get up and running quickly.”
