Workflow usage doubling each year on Aconex

by Leigh Jasper on May 9, 2011

Clients use our workflow engine to manage and track time-critical processes and decisions on their projects. Examples include:

  • Design documentation reviews
  • Shop drawing approvals
  • Contractor submissions – including method statements and material sample submissions
  • Inspection and test plans
  • Squad checks
  • Interface management
  • Handover information – such as commissioning reports, As-Built drawings, O&M manuals and warranty information

The use of workflows has grown dramatically on Aconex over the last few years, doubling each year to over 1.3 million approvals and decisions in 2010. This is a sign of increasingly sophisticated information management in the industry. It is in addition to the hundreds of millions of documents and correspondence also managed on the platform.

Workflows on Aconex are an example of integrated, collaborative decision making. Rather than everyone trying to force others to use their own system, we bring all participants together on the same platform. This accelerates decision-making for everyone involved in the process.

Each company is able to set up workflows on the platform to match their own processes, but the tasks and documents remain linked in a common workflow. How much easier is this, than everyone working on their own system and having to manually update information received from others?
