Oracle CEO Mark Hurd and Aconex founders Leigh Jasper and Robert Phillpot share the belief that cloud technology is the future of computing. Since 2000, Aconex has focused on expanding cloud services to provide real-time collaboration within and across enterprises. Hurd, Jasper and Phillpot have noted the increased security the cloud provides for document storage and communication while extending mobile access to job sites and offices around the world. The unified platform offered by Aconex aligns with a shift to standardized cloud suites in enterprise IT. The acquisition of Aconex will extend Oracle’s cloud capabilities in project management solutions and enhance Oracle’s Construction and Engineering Global Business Unit.
Hurd joined Oracle as president in 2010, becoming CEO in 2014. At Oracle, Hurd has helped shift the long-term strategy of the company towards the cloud, offering a unique blend of on-premises, cloud and hybrid cloud deployment solutions. As a keynote speaker at the annual Oracle OpenWorld conference, he has discussed the future state of the industry and enterprise cloud technology, offering perspectives and predictions on trends in cybersecurity, cloud adoption and the market.
With over three decades of experience, Hurd has helped drive growth at multiple enterprise technology companies with a strong focus on leadership, strategy and innovation. Recognized for his accomplishments and expertise in management, Hurd was San Francisco Chronicle’s CEO of the Year in 2008, Fortune’s Most Powerful People in Business in 2007, and listed as one of the 25 Most Influential Executives by CRN in 2010. As a thought leader, author and speaker, Hurd regularly comments on technology trends, at conferences, colleges and other industry events.
Prior to joining Oracle, Hurd started his career at NCR Corporation. Over 25 years, Hurd held a variety of roles at the company and was named CEO in 2003. In 2005, Hurd became chief executive officer at Hewlett-Packard. HP experienced 22 consecutive quarters of growth after Hurd joined the company and increased annual revenue to exceed $100 billion in 2007.
During Hurd’s tenure, Oracle has continued to prioritize the development of cloud technology through research and development, utilizing cutting-edge technology. Acquisitions such as NetSuite and Taleo have expanded Oracle’s cloud capabilities and reach as enterprises make a generational shift to cloud technology.
