Capture a new issue in Field Mobile

Capture an issue using a mobile device.

Field Mobile gives you two easy ways to capture an issue during a site inspection.

  1. Log into Field Mobile, and select the project you’re inspecting.

  2. Choose how you’d like to capture the issue:

    • Tap Select location to move to the Project’s issue list, and choose the relevant sub-area from the dropdown menus.

    • Tap Scan location to scan a QR code on the site.

Select location

If you chose Select location

  1. Tap through the area menus to find the area you’re working in.
  2. Tap Add.
  3. Fill in the Add new issue screen. The only mandatory field here is Description, but you can also:
    • identify the issue’s type
    • add a detailed description of the issue
    • take a photo of it, or add an image you took earlier and saved to your device. Annotate the image by tapping Markup once the photo’s loaded in the Add new issue form
    • provide more details about the location
    • assign it to an organization to fix
    • give it a due date.
  4. To continue capturing another issue, tap the Keep the form open to add another checkbox.
  5. Tap Save to add the issue to the project.

When you return to the issues list, you’ll see this new issue at the top of the list.

The Add issue page

If you chose Scan location

  1. You’ll see a green box appear on your screen.
  2. Hold your phone or tablet up to the QR code, so it appears within the green box. You don’t need to photograph the code. Just make sure it displays within the green box.
  3. The Field Mobile app will automatically identify the code, and take you to the issue list for the location you’re in.
  4. Tap Add.
  6. To continue capturing another issue, tap the Keep the form open to add another checkbox.
  7. Tap Save to add the issue to the project.

When you return to the issues list, you’ll see this new issue appears at the top of the list.

Your mobile device doesn't have to be connected to the Internet to capture new issues. Once a web connection becomes available, your mobile device will start syncing the captured issues with Aconex automatically.
